Coach Sammy started playing volleyball when she was in 8th grade for Trinity High School’s inaugural Junior High Volleyball program. She played club for four years, spending two years at Fusion Volleyball Club, one year at Spooky Nook Volleyball Club, and finally one year at East Coast Power. She began her volleyball career as a hitter and when she stopped growing, transitioned to setter her second year of high school. Sammy was a two-year letter winner at Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, where she was a co-captain as well as the max preps player of the year her senior year.

Sammy played collegiately at Stevenson University on both the women’s indoor volleyball team as well as the women’s beach volleyball team. She graduated from Stevenson with a BS in Biology with honors.

Sammy is currently very active in the grass volleyball community, playing just about every weekend. She competes in the women’s pro division, traveling all over the country for tournaments. 

She enjoys playing in midnight volleyball tournaments, reading books, and playing video games with her friends. She is soon marrying her high school sweetheart, Ian Capp. Who just happens to be a professional indoor and outdoor volleyball player. He is also currently the head men’s beach coach and assistant women’s beach coach at her alma mater, Stevenson University.
